The number of new product offers was unlimited. The research available was mind boggling. The alternative tie-ins to the existing product line were numerous. It is difficult to know which way to turn. How could the company predict which specific product would be "the one" that customers would embrace? And which product would the market value enough to, not only purchase, but also "brag about" enough to spawn organic referrals who would also purchase and value enough to…repeat the process.

Suddenly the light bulb came on, and the question was asked: "Why not ask our current customers"?
It was almost too obvious to make the short list of recommended approaches! And, of course, more time and resources would be required to do this properly, but the company already had developed a lot of communication and rapport with a large base of customers, so the survey was prepared and sent to the market base.
