(IT-NEWSWIRE.COM, June 12, 2015 ) Low emissivity glass or low-e glass is a energy-saving glass having high-quality heat-resistance performance, lower rate of thermal emission, and effective light and thermal control capacities. It is majorly used in electronics, building, automobile and other fields. The low-e glass production of China, encouraged by positive factors such as energy conservation, technological improvement, and emission reduction, increased from 6 million meter square in 2005 to 134 million meter square in 2013 at a 47% CAGR, and is estimated to rise further to 152 million meter square in 2014.

The penetration rate of low-e glass market in China is around 11% only, although it can realize a large-scale production in the region. The low-e glass market of china still lags behind Germany, the United States, South Korea, and other developed nations (mostly over 80%) that leave large room for growth in the Chinese market. It is estimated that the demand for low-e glass in China will grow at a CAGR of around 23.5% during 2014 to 2017.
The mainland China’s low-e glass market was highly concerted prior to 2009 as 6 big companies held a collective 70% of total low-e glass market share. But, with the growing number of companies engaged, the low-e glass market’s concentration started to decline. The top 6 companies were left with just 47.4% of total low-e glass market share in 2014. At present, major Chinese low-e glass market players are continuing actively with their competence development to improve competitiveness.
In September 2013, Taiwan Glass Group put in US$240 million to build a low-e glass factory in Shenyang. The project is to be accomplished in two phases, of which, the first phase focuses on a low-e laminated glass manufacturing and the second phase focuses on low-e vacuum glass manufacturing. This project is likely to be finished and put into production by the end of 2015.
