(IT-NEWSWIRE.COM, February 22, 2015 ) Dublin, Ireland -- Yet another winter storm has brought snow, sleet, ice accumulation and freezing rain in a stripe form the Plains to the Appalachians and the East Coast. This time the storm is called Winter storm Octavia. The Weather Channel has released a list of winter storm names for the 2014-2015 season to make it easier to communicate about complex storm systems. The names are used in alphabetical order to name strong winter storms that meet predefined storm criteria.
Winter Storm Octavia follows closely on Winter Storm Marcus. Both storms have had a significant impact on businesses due to inability of workers and clients to reach offices and places of work.
Additionally delivery of goods into and within the USA has been hampered by a combination of flight delays and cancellations and poor road conditions.
Leading online seller Amazon has advised sellers and buyers of possible delivery delays due to the poor weather conditions.
'Our online sales tend to go up during the storms as people are more likely to be indoors and have time to shop. The challenge is that the delivery of the goods from Amazon may be unavoidably delayed. We partner with Amazon because of their reliability in delivering to customers. We know that if Amazon are delayed then the weather must be a real problem' commented a spokeswoman for a partner company of Amazon in Dublin earlier today.
