A Rise In The Number Of Water Damaged Gadgets Is Expected This Summer

(IT-NEWSWIRE.COM, August 17, 2015 ) Richmond, British Columbia -- Summer is approaching and most people will be going back to service centers after a trip to the beach due to damages to gadgets and devices. There are a lot of common mistakes that people commit when going to the beach and this could lead to serious, sometimes irreparable damage to electronic devices including smartphones and speakers.

Portable electronic devices are a popular choice this summer for travelers and tourists due to their handy size and convenient features. Bluetooth speakers are one of the most in demand these days due to the added features that make it convenient for users to stream and enjoy music without the use of wires. Portable speakers, like the Adfilic Bluetooth speaker, are becoming a staple for outdoor activities but they are not immune from water damage.

According to the "Mobile Life" report, people are spending more time using smartphones than talking to their partners. This study was carried by O2, a mobile phone provider and Samsung, an electronics company involving about 2000 adults. It turns out that people use 24 minutes of each day browsing the internet, 16 minutes is spent on social networks and 15 minutes on listening to music.

However, the main problem when taking electronic gadgets to the beach is when it gets submerged in water. Accidentally dropping a smartphone after taking a photo could lead to serious harm. Water conducts electricity and when it touches any exposed wire or connection, it short circuits the device. Most water damaged devices can still be repaired however, for smartphones and other gadgets, it is not covered by the warranty.

According to Apple support, "If liquid damages an iPhone or iPod (for example, coffee or a soft drink), the service for the liquid damage isn't covered by the Apple one year limited warranty or an AppleCare Protection Plan (APP)." But they have installed Liquid Contact Indicators to help users know whether their devices have come in contact with water or any liquid that contains water.

A study done by Zagg reveals that the most prevalent form of smartphone damage is scratches while liquid damage is not far behind. Bluetooth devices, such as a Bluetooth speaker, are preferred by many due to the fact that they are easier to connect to other gadgets without wires that kids and pets can trip on.
